The Sensewell project won the Battle of Talents final event.
Sensewell won the Battle of Talents, a contest for young entrepeneurs!
Six researchers of the MeBios Biosensor Group won the final event of the Battle of Talents contest with their business plan for the technology startup "Sensewell". At the headquarters of BNP Paribas Fortis in Antwerp, the Sensewell project came out in first place after a thrilling final event.
The team of young researchers working at the MeBioS Biosensor Division of KULeuven, were immediately drawn to the Battle of Talents business game after first hearing about it:
"As soon as we heard that an online game for the development of a fictitious business was launched, it proved an ideal opportunity for us to make our research known to the outside world", said the proud founders. "Thanks to a jury which several top entrepreneurs and MBA students, we were offered a unique opportunity to test the viability of our research and to investigate how our efforts could be commercialized in the future."
Is it not hard to coordinate a project with such a large group of six people?
"The team of researchers working on the Sensewell project was formed in a very spontaneous way. Everyone has different and very complementary capacities. Jeroen Pollet was the lead developer of the technology behind the Sensewell products. Nicolas Vergauwe and Steven Vermeir were responsible for performing market surveys and -analysis. The financial aspects of the Sensewell project, such as pricing- and cost analysis were developed by Filip Delport and Bert Verbruggen while Kris Janssen handled the IT by designing a website for the project and creating artwork and promotional materials."
The team of MeBios Biosensor Group researchers co-developed a business plan for a simple and ingenious probe, which will be sold ready-to-use. "Our vision is to make diagnostics readily available to both large industry players and ultimately the consumer with small sensors for the detection of allergens, toxic substances or other components."
